FINDING FLOWERS

As an artist and nature enthusiast, this body of work is an expression of how I experience the native plants of Ohio. Particularly the beauty and frailty of flowers.

In my process, I begin by creating studies through observation of the flowers and their structure, color and form. Once in the studio, before starting to translate my observations onto paper, I create abstract compositions. Allowing the paint to run, splatter, and bleed together organically. From there I start to react to the materials, discovering the flowers within the work. My hope is that my paintings capture a sense of the flowers, and the fleeting nature of their beauty.
